As the Summer break continues, the media scrambles to fill it's newsfeeds and 24 hour channels as the "Silly Season" takes hold. Summer 2015 has been no different. UK-based stories are few and far between and the stories have been becoming increasingly appropriate for July and August.

One such story was discovered by AFP journalist Alfons Luna who found "webuyanyporn.com", a business that removes or purchases vintage pornography from people who are either aware of it's market value or simply don't want it to be found in their bins.

Heading along, I assumed that it was going to be another rather tenuous stretch of a story to get some free media coverage but on hearing their story, it incredibly turned out to be true.

When a potential client calls and requests a collection, owner "Dave" heads over with an unmarked van to either shred the offending material or pay cash. Walking into the store in north London, it was incredible to see not only how old some of them were but also what immaculate condition they were in. Looking at some of their oldest magazines from the 1950s, you would be unsurprised if you were told that they were brand new reproductions. I guess Grandad must have kept his stash at the bottom of a drawer, resulting in perfectly pressed, unfaded vintage magazines!

"I got a call from a vicar, down in the south coast, I can't say where. His church had some houses that let old people in. One of the old gentlemen died and left a lot of magazines," said Dave.

"I paid him good money for them and the money went towards the gentleman's estate, the funeral."

When I visited, I was told that customers regularly search for specific issues of magazines that they remember, to see the women that they fell for in their early years.

Covering this story proved to be quite challenging as not all of the magazines on show were of the seaside saucy postcard cover, by a long way. Hardcore magazines had to be avoided or framed very carefully as I'm pretty sure there are clients in certain countries that may not appreciate seeing some of those Grade 7 naked yoga moves on their newswire.
